272. Volksgrenadier Division

Rank Structure


1. Join the Unit: You are a Volksturm or Recruit.

2. When your basic outfit is complete you will be a VolksGrenadier or Private


3. Ober Grenadier/ Private First Class

1 year in the unit and have participated in 5 battles.


4. Gefreiter Grenadier/ Lance Corporal

2 years in the unit and have participated in 10 battles


5. OberGefreiter/ Senior Lance Corporal

3 years with the unit and have participated in 15 battles.


6. Unteroffizer/ Corporal

5 years with the unit and have participated in over 30 battles.


7. Feldwebel/ 2nd Sergeant 

 8 years with the unit and have participated in over 50 battles.


8.  Oberfeldwebel, 1st Sergeant 

10 years with the unit and have particpated in over 65 battles.


9. Stabsfeldwebel/ Sergenat Major

Over 10 years with the unit and participated in over 75 battles, plus have to be over 60 years old to get this rank. 


10. Leutnant/ Lieutenant

This is a voted position by the group. Required to be at least a Unteroffizer to quality for this position. 




272. Volksgrenadier

Basic Outfit

  1. M43 Cap
  2. M40,M42 Helmet
  1. M43, M42, or M40 tunic
  2. M43, M40 Trousers
  3. German Shirt
  4. German Suspenders/Braces
  5. German Gaiters
  6. German Brown or Black Low Boots, German Black Jack Boots or, close looking to a German low boot.
  7. Mauser 98k, M48, Czech Mauser, a Mauser that has a bent bolt, or, MP40, MP44, MG38, and MG 42.
  8. Equipment: Black Leather Y-Straps, black leather belt, 2 98k mauser black pouches, bread bag, German canteen, mess tin, bayonet and scabbard.

Optional Equipment:

  1. German Shovel with carrier, early or late war
  2. German Tan and Water Smock
  3. German M40 or M42 Overcoat
  4. German Wool Gloves
  5. Zeltbahn
  6. A Frame Pack
  7. German Dog Tags
  8. German ID book
  9. German Towel
  10. Summer Uniform


272. Volksgrenadier

Awards

If an award requires to be voted on, it has to be unanimous of all the members present at the battle.

Wound Badges:

Black Wound Badge: Receive an actual wound during a battle.

Silver Wound Badge: Receive an actual wound during a battle, (5 times.)

Gold Wound Badge: Receive an actual wound during a battle, (10 times.)

Infantry Assault Badge:

Take part in 5 different infantry assaults leading to a victory. You can only count one assault for only one battle.

Service Cross 2nd Class Ribbon

This award goes to a soldier for helping the unit. Example, buying or building something for the unit, this will be voted by other members of the unit.

Tank Destruction Badge:

Silver: Destroy or disable an enemy tank, halftrack, or 2 jeeps.

Gold: Destroy or disable 5 enemy tanks/ 5 halftracks, or 10 jeeps.

Iron Cross 2nd Class Ribbon:

This award goes to a soldier for bravery on a battlefield that leads to a victory. This will be voted on by other members of the unit.

Eastern Front Ribbon:

This award is given after attending and fighting in 10 Eastern Front Events.
